Fruit Tree Guilds

Below the front yard prairie, the water runs off quickly through the grass. The objective was to create 2 fruit tree guilds (peach and pear) with a berm and swale design to capture water.

Our process:Use a hose level to design water flow and collection. Design guild plants and topography planning. Re-shape slopes to catch and retain water and nutrients. Build berm and swale using natural field stone retaining walls. Plant guild plants (insectory, nitrogen fixers and dynamic accumulator companions). Plant ground covers and integration into hill design.
