MayDay Parade Public Workshops

Our Common Treasury – Dig It

"This year's MayDay parade storyline sings transition towns" says one
PRI: Cold Climate member. This year's theme, "Our Common Treasury – Dig
It," resonates strongly with permaculture principles and values, and
PRI: Cold Climate is inviting members and non-members alike to join in.

All this April, In The Heart of the Beast theatre is holding free public
workshops where staff artists and volunteers come together to create
the fantastical, highly creative, and often huge puppets and props for
which they are so well known. Workshops are held Tuesdays from 7 – 9,
Thursdays from 7 – 9, and Saturday 9 – 11 and 1_ – 3.

Workshops are free and open to the public.

How it Works

  • An artist will introduce you to the parade theme by showing you the
    giant storyboard (a visual script).
  • You select a section of the parade to work on, find the artist in
charge of that section, and set to work!
  • Artists will guide you.
  • You can either make your own creation which you can keep after the
parade, or help with the larger parade floats.
  • Typically, you'll need 3 or 4 sessions to complete a project, but
you can come to as many or as few as your schedule allows.

Other Details

  • Workshops are Free.
  • Donations graciously accepted, always welcome, and much needed.
